SAPEUR - Original 1920's Sapper Card
A downloadable rare collector's item
This is a Sapper card from SAPEUR, the third-printing English-language version of the first commercial collectible card game. Originally a very staid, tactical game, it was revamped in 1988 when Richard "Dick" Skelton found a pack of the cards in a local second-hand shop; he turned the game into a fast-paced prize-taking game, and with the addition of a fantasy twist (inspired by Dungeons & Dragons), the technomantic world of The Walls of Ebarakum was born!
I've traced this particular card back to 1921, one of the earliest printings after British soldiers brought the game back from France following WWI. Message me if you're interested in the physical card. $500 or best offer. SERIOUS OFFERS ONLY.
Okay, actual real-world information: Picture is "Bengal Engineer Officers tracing the approaches to a fortified city at night" by George Francklin Atkinson, taken from "The War in India". Illustration for The Illustrated London News, 24 February 1849. Colour added by me.

Great consistency of vision, and strong selection and coloring of the most dynamic figure in the original print. Thanks for sharing!
